Brijesh claims third spot in golf
Chandigarh: Panchkula's Brijesh Kumar claimed third position at 68, after round one of the NEXGEN Kapurthala 2025, the second event of the PGTI NEXGEN season, played at the RCF Golf Course in Kapurthala. Delhi's Wasim Khan shot a six-under 66 to lead after round one of the PGTI. Delhi's Ajay Baisoya was placed second with a score of 5-under 67. Local lad Ashbeer Saini of Kapurthala made a hole-in-one on the 10th during his round of 69. He was placed tied fourth along with Sudipta Das and Amrit Lal.
Bodybuilding championship on March 23
Chandigarh: The 36th Senior Mr Chandigarh Bodybuilding Championship will be organised on March 23 at Rani Laxmibai Mahila Bhawan Auditorium, Sector 38. The titles of 33rd Junior Mr Chandigarh, 11th Men's Physique and ninth Women's Physique will also be at stake. Senior Mr Chandigarh includes 55 kg, 60 kg, 65 kg, 70 kg, 75 kg, 80 kg, 85 kg, 90 kg and 90+ kg weight categories. Junior Mr Chandigarh includes 50 kg, 60 kg, 70 kg and 70+ kg weight. Men-Women Physique will be in the open category. Players above 40 years of age will play in the masters' category. Bodybuilders will be weighed will be at Sector 17 Bon Sante Gym on March 22 from 3 pm to 6 pm.
Sanawar school cricket tournament
Chandigarh: Nilgiri House emerged victorious in the fifth OSS Inter-House Cricket Tournament organised by the Old Sanawarian Society (OSS), the Alumni Association of The Lawrence School, Sanawar. The two-day tournament held at the PCA, Mullanpur, witnessed Nilgiri House securing three wins out of their three matches. On the final day, the team triumphed over Himalaya House by six wickets and defeated Shivalik House by 23 runs to win the title. Himalaya House finished runners-up with two wins in three matches. In the opening match, Himalaya House won the toss and opted to bat and posted 96/5 in 15 overs. Nilgiri House chased down the target in the 12th over by losing four wickets.
Shergill Academy lift soccer title
Mohali: Shergill Soccer Academy, in association with Minerva, lifted the coveted U-15 Punjab Youth League title. The U-15 Punjab Youth League was a testament to the academy's hard work and dedication. Shergill Soccer Academy's impressive campaign began with a resounding 27-0 victory over United Punjab, setting the tone for the rest of the tournament. The team then demonstrated its mettle by securing a hard-fought point against Sri Anandpur Sahib in a 0-0 draw, followed by a thrilling 3-3 encounter against Roundglass Punjab. In the semifinal, the team delivered a convincing 3-0 win over YFC, paving the way for a thrilling finale. In the championship match, Shergill Soccer Academy edged out YFC Rurka Kalan with a narrow 1-0 margin, claiming the coveted U-15 Punjab Youth League title.
Sports meet held at Chandigarh Group of Colleges
Chandigarh: The 19th Annual Sports Meet of Chandigarh Group of Colleges (CGC), Landran, was organised today. Anish Thakur and Rimpi Kaur were adjudged best athletes at the sports meet. In the 100m race, Kirat and Vanshika won the gold medal. In the 200m race, Virat and Pooja took home the gold, while Vivek and Vanshika captured the gold in the 400m race. Vikash and Pooja bagged the first position in the 800m race, while Arun Kumar and Gunjan claimed the gold medal in 1,500m race.
