Stabbing: Man gets 5-year RI

A city court has sentenced a local resident, Vikas, alias Aaibo, to undergo five years of rigorous imprisonment in a case of attempt to commit culpable homicide registered five years ago. The court also imposed a fine of Rs 5,000 on the convict.
The police had registered the case against the accused on June 20, 2019, for offences committed under Sections 308 and 34 of the Indian Penal Code at Mauli Jagran police station on the complaint of Prem Lal Rai, a mason.
The latter had alleged on June 20, 2019, he along another person was standing in front of his house when Aaibo and a juvenile came and starting arguing with him. They later started manhandling him. Aaibo held him while the juvenile pulled out a knife from his pocket and stabbed him in the stomach and fled. During the investigation, Aaibo was arrested. After the investigation, a challan against the accused was presented before the court. Finding sufficient evidence on record, accused was chargesheeted under Section 308 read with Section 34 of the Indian Penal Code on October 21, 2019.
The counsel for the accused argued that he was falsely implicated, while the public prosecutor said they had proved the case beyond a shadow of doubt. After hearing the arguments, the court sentenced the convict to undergo five years of rigorous imprisonment.
