Mayor Harpreet Kaur Babla led a grand celebration of International Women’s Day at Mahila Bhawan, Sector 38, here today. Municipal Commissioner Amit Kumar, along with the Chief Engineer and officials from all departments of the MC, attended the event.
Addressing the women from various self-help groups and other organisations, the Mayor emphasised the vital role women can play in shaping society and acknowledging their growing contributions in various fields. She highlighted the importance of women empowerment and encouraged the gathering to take independent decisions for their rights and future.
“Women today are excelling in every sphere and significantly contributing to the progress of our society. Their hard work and dedication are driving positive change, and women empowerment is one of the best outcomes of our time. We must continue to support and encourage women to stand up for their rights and make informed decisions,” said the Mayor.
The Commissioner appreciated the efforts of women in different sectors and reaffirmed the Municipal Corporation’s commitment to supporting women-centric initiatives.
The event featured inspiring speeches, cultural performances and interactive sessions celebrating the spirit of womanhood. The Municipal Corporation pledged to continue promoting gender equality and empowering women across all sectors of society.
