Deputy Commissioner Aashika Jain said, “The Baba Banda Singh Bahadur Inter-State Bus Terminal, Mohali, is being maintained by a private company, C & C Towers, which was selected by the Greater Mohali Area Development Authority. The statue has suffered wear and tear, so it has been removed for repair.”

Inaugurated on December 18, 2016, by SAD leader Sukhbir Singh Badal, the ISBT never realised its potential with many areas falling in disuse.

Officials refuted the allegations of disrespect of the great Sikh warrior with the removal of his statute. It would take four to five weeks to reinstall the statue after completing the requisite maintenance as informed by the company MD, Mandeep Kohli.
