Mohali, December 6

The Special Task Force (STF) unit of the Mohali police here today claimed to have arrested a youth for possessing 1 kg of heroin from the Patran-Sangrur road crossing on Thursday evening.

The arrested suspect has been identified as Godu Singh, a resident of Nial village in Patiala district.

The STF team had received a tip-off about the suspect, going to supply heroin to his customers, was on his way from old bus stand in Patran to the Patran-Sangrur road crossing.

During preliminary investigation, Godu confessed that he was a Class XII dropout and after leaving his studies in 2016 he joined company of friends, who also used to indulge in drug trafficking. He was supplying drugs since then, said Godu to the police.

A case under Sections 21, 61 and 85 of the NDPS Act has been registered against Godu at the STF police station, Phase IV, Mohali. The suspect was produced in the local court today, which remanded him to two-day police custody.
