Panjab University Campus Students’ Council (PUCSC) joint secretary Mohit Manderna today distanced himself from the PU Bachao Morcha.
“The decision is only due to ideological differences. Whatever happened that day was disturbing. Our joint aim was to oppose the BJP government and the RSS over the delay in Senate elections. I will continue towards that aim,” said Manderna.
“The farmer protest was jointly led by Punjab and Haryana. The two states may have differences over certain issues, but during that protest, we were together. The ‘PU Bandh’ was meant to oppose the government, the RSS and other agencies for the delay in Senate elections and to save the institution. However, it ended up sending a different message. I am not saying Punjab or Haryana can’t ask for their rights over the university, but it should have been done from a separate platform,” said Manderna.
