Student poll: ABVP promises grievance redressal office
The Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad (ABVP) today unveiled its Manifesto-2025 ‘Our Vision For Better PU’ for the Panjab University Campus Students’ Council (PUCSC) elections.
“The manifesto has been prepared keeping in mind the suggestions received during the ‘My University, My Manifesto 2.0’ campaign run by the party over the past few days. It is completely student oriented,” said ABVP national secretary Aditya Takiar.
The seven key highlights of the manifesto are a full-time grievance redressal office that will be established to resolve student concerns related to fees, fellowships, scholarships, security and administrative hurdles. This will ensure greater accountability and transparency in campus governance. It also included empowering women students by proposing reservation of Department Representative (DR) seats for women.
The party also promised installation of rooftop solar panels on every academic and administrative building across both north and south campuses to reduce carbon footprint and make the PU a model of sustainable energy practices, a modern synthetic athletics track, round-the-clock tuck shops and canteen facilities on both campuses, placement festivals at the university level and installing SOS panic buttons at every 100m on the university campus.
“In addition to these flagship promises, the manifesto outlines ABVP’s broader vision of strengthening academic opportunities, expanding research fellowships, improving campus security and promoting eco-friendly initiatives,” said Parvindra Singh Negi, campus president of the party.
Meanwhile, the Students Organisation of India (SOI) officially announced the name of Seerat from the UIET Department as its candidate for the post of president of the PUCSC.
The party also declared its office-bearers. They are Saravnoor Singh Malhi, Honey Chauhan, Harsh Saini, Daksh Vasudev, Ashish Rana and Jobanpreet Singh.
“The panel of office-bearers reflects the hard work, dedication and commitment of young leaders who have consistently stood by students and raised their voices on important issues,” said Seerat.
