This refers to the news report ‘Students homeless during exam season’ in Chandigarh Tribune. I condemn the owners of illegal PGs in the city who, fearing raids by the authorities after the Sector-32 PG incident, are suddenly shutting down and asking students to pack and leave the premises. Many students have no accommodation to live now. The Administration should understand their plight and either make arrangements or give all PGs one-month notice to comply with the rules.

Appreciable scheme
The scheme launched by the Haryana Government, wherein any individual who will complain regarding a pothole and the damaged road will get an amount of Rs 100 per day if the same don’t get repaired in 96 hours, is an appreciable step. Keeping in view the condition of roads in Chandigarh, the scheme should be implemented here also. If the scheme is implemented properly, it will ensure transparency in the working of the municipal bodies.
