Terming the India-Bangladesh dialogue held over the past three days in Shimla as positive symbolism of the mutuality of friendship and common shared interests between the two countries, UT Administrator Banwarilal Purohit said the 10th round of India-Bangladesh friendship dialogue was an added part of the continuum of friendship between two countries.
“I have full faith in the idea of such a dialogue, and believe that such interactions will strengthen the bilateral ties between the two countries,” said Purohit. This India-Bangladesh friendship dialogue, I am sure, had served the purpose and would keep doing so even in the future, said the Punjab Governor during his address to the delegates of India and Bangladesh on their visit to Chandigarh.
Bangladesh and India are not just geographical neighbours, but also claim a common legacy of history and culture and a robust intellectual heritage. Not a day has passed in the past 50 years when Bangladesh and India had not joined heads, hearts and hands to serve common purposes, common goals and common dreams, he said, adding that “very rare is such a friendship.”
Hoping that those who came to the dialogue would go back to their respective homes with happy memories of the high-quality interaction among themselves, the Governor said both nations had a common neighbourhood, a common history, a common heritage and common interests. So, a common platform of friendship to stand would go a long way in carving a great future together.
Senior leaders and prominent participants from India and Bangladesh were present on the occasion. The event was held at a hotel in Sector 10, Chandigarh.
