Swastik, 3 others in lead after Round 5 at chess championship

Chandigarh, August 4
Swastik Singhal, Vedant Garg, Sanjeev Biswas and Ekaaksha Partap Singh Negi were in the lead with a score of 4.5 points each at the end of Round 5 of the 34th Chandigarh Chess Championship-2024, which is underway at Dr Ambedkar Bhawan, Sector 37.
The championship is being organised by the Chandigarh Chess Association. A total of four players will be selected for the nationals to represent Chandigarh at the 61st National Chess Championship to be held in Gurgaon from August 17 to 23.
Vohra Abhinandan, Sidharth Bhargav, Goel Pratyaksh, Jayant Atwal, Vivaan Mittal, Prabhav Atwal and Ayaan Garg trail the leaders’ pack by scoring 4 points each. Atharav Singh Naruka, Ayush Mani, Lakshiv Mittal, Paras Kalia, Eshit Bansal and Reedhwan Sharma — all scored 3.5 points each, while the pack of Atharv Singh Negi, Dishant Bansal, Amogh Agrawal, Naik Arjun, Kamya Kumari, Aaditya
Bhargav, Deborshi Roy Chowdhury, Yogesh Kaushik, Rajvinder Singh, AkshunPunchhi, Ikjas Singh Arora, Amitesh Saini, Anvi Gupta, Pratyaksh Goyal, Aryaveer Sheokand, Shivansh Singla and Surendra Kumar scored three points each.
