Chandigarh, April 9

Swastik Singhal claimed the open U-17 category title on the concluding day of the Chandigarh Chess Championship at Chandigarh Baptist School in Sector 45. Ayaan Garg finished second with four points, while Vedant Garg claimed the third position by scoring identical four points.

Vivaan Mittal scored four points to win the open U-13 final. Ekaaksha Partap Singh Negi and Aaditya Bhargav scored four points each to claim the second and third positions, respectively.

In the open U-9 category, Adhiraj Singh Khehar scored three and a half points to win the title. Sambhav Garg scored the identical points to finish second, while Yahjur Nayyar claimed the third position.

The championship was organised by the Chandigarh Chess Association and a total of 72 boys and girls participated in different categories.

Singhal and Vedant (boys’ U-17), Shereen Makroo and Prisha (girls’ U-17), Mittal and Negi (boys’ U-13), Anvi Gupta and Aayra Singh (girls’ U-13), Khehar and Sambhav (boys’ U-9) and Hajel Goel and Tanureet Kaur Arora (girls’ U-9) have been selected to represent the city in the upcoming national championships.
