Tamanna claims fencing gold at inter-college meet
Defeated teammate Gurjot Kaur to capture the women’s foil trophy
Panjab University’s Tamanna defeated teammate Gurjot Kaur to capture the women’s foil trophy at varsity’s inter-college fencing tournament for women.
Harshika Sharma shared the third position with Simran of Govind National College, Narangwal.
Meanwhile, in the foil team event, the varsity team claimed the top position, followed by GGD SD College, Sector 32, in second. The Narangwal and MCM DAV College for Women, Sector 36, teams claimed the joint third position.
Purvasha of MCM DAV College won the epee event by defeating Yashkeerat Kaur Hayer of the university campus. Navyaa Taneja and Mehak Walia shared the third position. The Sector 36 college claimed overall trophy in the epee event, followed by the university campus team at second position. The teams of Post Graduate Government College, Sector 11, and the Sector-32 college shared the third position.
Aman of the Sector-36 college also won the sabre event, as she defeated Prachi of the university campus, Harsh and Pawandeep Kaur shared the second runners-up position. The Sector-36 team won the team event, followed by the Sector 32 based college at second position. The varsity and Narangwal claimed third position.
On the boys’ side, Usttat of the Sector-32 college won the men’s foil event by defeating Arshveer Singh of Panjab University campus in the intercollege fencing meet. Prateek claimed third position. The Sector 32 college team claimed overall trophy in the foil event, followed by the hosts. Sri Guru Gobind Singh College (SGGS), Sector 26, shared the third position with SGGS Khalsa College, Mahilpur.
In the epee event, Shaurya Ashwaniof the campus team won the gold medal. Mohit Bhatt of the Sector 32 college and Arshveer Singh of the university campus finished second and third, respectively. In the team event, the university campus claimed the first position, followed by GGDSD college team. Post Graduate Government College, Sector 11, finished third with the Sector 26 based college.
Divij Khanna of Mahilpur won the sabre gold medal by defeating Vishavjeet. Arya Ashwani and Anish Thakur shared the third position. The Mahilpur team won the first position by overpowering the Sector 32 college. The team of Sector 11 college shared third position with the university campus team.
