Tennis: Astitva Sodhi logs easy win

Chandigarh, July 2

Top seed Punjab’s Astitva Sodhi defeated Haryana’s Anuvrat Hooda in straight sets 6-3 6-3 to qualify in the next round of the boys’ U-12 category on the opening day of the CLTA-AITA Championship Series (CS-7) Tennis Tournament.

Second seed Ranbir Singh defeated Rivaan Lakhanpal 6-1 6-0, while third seed Chandigarh’s Nikhil Bansal thrashed Aadrian Partap Singh Suri 6-4 6-4.

Ashwin Chauhan from Uttarakhand stunned fifth seed Kabir Mehta 6-2 6-4 and Mohit Singh defeated Japnit Singh 6-2 6-1. Haryana’s Pranav Saini also moved ahead by overpowering a tough challenge by Yatarth Wadhera 6-4 6-7(3) 6-1, and Punjab’s Tanmay Singla defeated Jahaan Jolly 6-0 6-3.
