Rutuparna Choudhary of Odisha defeated Gujarat’s Diya Ketan Desai 6-1 6-2 to qualify for the women’s main draw on the second day of the CLTA-AITA National Ranking Tennis Championship.
Maharashtra’s Bhumika Sanjay Tripathi stunned second seed Omna Yadav Davunabonia of Telangana 6-1 7-5, while Sara Yadav of Madhya Pradesh defeated third seed Hasini Yadav Davunabonia 6-3 6-4. Shatakshi Chaudhary defeated Alexa 6-1 6-3 and Kanupriya Rajawat ousted Shrawasti Kundilya 6-3 6-3 in other straight sets wins.
In the men’s event, Delhi’s Sarthak Sudan defeated Haryana’s Aryan Vij 6-1 7-5 and Svarmanyu Singh faced a tough challenge from Rishiraj Shekhawat while logging 7-6(6) 6-4 victory. Yash Baghel defeated Pratyaksh Kumar Soni 6-1 6-3 and Aman Dahiya easily defeated Shivam Devam 6-1 6-1.
