Sepoy Surendra of the Stallion Riding Club, astride Govinda, bagged the first position in the lance individual event at the NEC Tent-Pegging Nationals at the Sector 51 grounds today.

Surendra scored 53 points to edge out Bhagwan Bhai B Patel (52.5 points) of the BSF Equestrian team and the third place of the event was bagged by Havildra Prithvi Singh of the Stallion Riding Club. Prithvi, astride Peter II, garnered 52 points.

LD Mohad Rafik, astride Alfateh, of the 61 Cavalry, scored 52 points to bag fourth place. HAV W Lamaty of DGAR Equestrian Team, riding Akash, came in fifth with 51.5 points; Sepoy Avtar of Stallion Riding Club finished sixth with 51 points; RFN Dinesh Karlekar, NK Sandeep, LD Ganesh Warkhede, and RFN BR Jena finished seventh with 50 points each. More than 92 riders, including four from other countries, are taking part in the tent pegging nationals being held for the first time in the Tricity. Teams from Punjab Police, Haryana Police, Rajasthan Police, BSF, Army, ITBP, and private riders are taking part in the six-day event at the Chandigarh Horse Riding Society.
