Local MP and former Union Minister Manish Tewari inaugurated floodlights installed in the Sector 40 market and CCTV cameras at Maloya village and nearby areas, dedicating them to the public. The installations were funded through grants released from the MP’s Local Area Development Fund (MPLAD). Chandigarh Congress Committee president Harmohinder Singh Lucky and Senior Deputy Mayor Jasbir Singh Bunty were also present at the event.
Speaking on the occasion, Tewari said that his goal was the overall development of the Chandigarh Lok Sabha constituency, for which he would continue to work on multiple projects while allocating grants to provide basic facilities to the public through the MPLAD scheme. He mentioned that the installation of floodlights and CCTV cameras had been a long-pending demand, which will also now help keep a watch on anti-social activities. He added that several other public-oriented projects were also underway across the city, and the process would continue in the coming days.
Among others present on the occasion were councillor Nirmala Devi, Rajni Talwar, senior Congress leaders Dilawar, Gurpreet Gabi, Amrik Singh, Vijay Yadav, Vasu Peter (block president) and Paramjit Kaur.
