Chandigarh: A theft reportedly took place at a shop in Dadu Majra Colony. According to the police, the complainant, Ram Singh, stated that unknown person stole around Rs40,000 and some documents from his shop, Sai Departmental Store, on September 28. The police were informed about the incident following which cops reached the spot and started an investigation into it. Meanwhile, a case was registered in this connection at the Maloya police station. TNS

Two booked for raping woman

Mohali: Two persons have been booked on the charge of raping a 34-year-old woman on the pretext of offering her a role in a movie. The suspects, identified as Sunil and Dinesh, are residents of Mumbai. They are yet to be arrested. TNS

Power supply to be hit today

Chandigarh: Due to an urgent maintenance work, the electricity supply to following areas will remain suspended on September 30. In parts of Sector 29-C and D, 41, Ram Darbar, Phase 1, Mauli Jagran Complex-II (EWS houses) and Daria Village, there will be no power supply from 10 am to 3 pm. The maintenance work will also affect the supply in parts of Sector 25 and 38 from 10 am to 4 pm. TNS

Mohali student shines in olympiad

Mohali: Vamika Saini, a resident Sector 70, Mohali, and a student of Paragon Senior Secondary School secured the all-India third rank in an English Olympiad organised by Orange Education Pvt Ltd. She has been rewarded with Rs30,000 and a merit certificate. Vamika gives the credit for her success to her parents and her English mentor, Dr Rajeev Chanana.
