Sources said Constable Manish, posted with the communication wing of the UT police, had gone to his native village in Haryana on Sunday. On returning home this evening, he found the lock of the main door broken and the house ransacked.

Sources said around Rs 2 lakh and 400 gm of gold were stolen from the house.

The constable informed the police control room about the incident, following which cops reached the spot and started an investigation.

A case of burglary has been registered at the Sector 26 police station. The police said the footage of CCTV cameras installed at the entry gates would be scrutinised.

A cop residing in the Police Lines said it was shocking that even houses inside the Police Lines were not safe. “There is a need to step up security to ensure no such incidents take place in future,” the cop added. —TNS
