Thieves strike thrice in vicinity of Dera Bassi police station

A snatching incident and two thefts were reported from close within the vicinity of the Dera Bassi police station.

According to the information, two masked bike-borne youths snatched a bag containing laptop, badminton racquets and important documents from a pedestrian at the National Highway.

The victim, Navdeep Singh, son of ASI Bhupinder Singh, was returning from Ambala by bus around 2.30 am when he was targeted. He was walking towards his house in Gulabhgarh and upon reaching Adarsh Nagar, Street No 2, his bag was snatched by the accused. Police, however, said it was failed attempt.

In another incident, miscreants broke open the shutters of two shops of a departmental store. The thieves, however, failed to take away three deep freezers.

Miscreants also targeted a house in Baltana, Saini Vihar, Phase-3, when the owner Sanju Das and his family were away to visit a relative.

The complainant said gold and silver ornaments, cash and other valuables worth lakhs had been stolen.
