Thieves target surveillance equipment

In less than a month, equipment used for traffic management/e-challaning has been stolen from six surveillance locations where CCTV cameras have been installed.
In a recent incident, two UPS and six batteries were stolen from a location at Sector 28/29 on January 10. On the complaint of Varun Chugh, Assistant Manager, Chandigarh Smart City Limited, a case has been registered at the Sector 26 police station.
Another theft of a battery and UPS has been reported from Sector 53/54 dividing road. A case was registered at the Sector 36 police station.
In his complaint, Chugh stated that the stolen components were used for traffic management/e-challaning by monitoring cameras from the Police Command Control Centre of the Chandigarh Police at Sector 17. Similar thefts have also been reported from other locations in the city.
