A total of 16,364 participants took part in the National-Level Abacus Competition, organised by the Champions Group, at Lajpat Rai Bhawan.
The competition tested participants’ speed and accuracy, challenging them to solve 100 arithmetic problems — including addition, subtraction, multiplication, division and decimals — in 20 minutes. However, most students solved their tests in six to nine minutes.
Twenty-eight students earned distinctions by securing positions in the India Book of Records, Asia Book of Records, International Book of Records and even the Guinness Book of Records. Among the most celebrated participants was Apeksha, from the Rampura Phul centre, who was previously honoured by Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann for her contribution in training over 10,000 government schoolgirls in Vedic Mathematics free of cost.
The results of the competition will be announced within 15 days. Top-performing students from the national level will qualify for the International Level Online Abacus Competition on November 16, where they will compete with participants from 31 countries.
“Such initiatives not only motivate children but also promote awareness about Abacus education, enhance cognitive abilities and inspire young minds to become confident problem solvers,” said Sanjeev Kumar, Director, Champions World.
