A student from Fazilka accused a group of rivals of assaulting him. Another complainant, hailing from Mohali, alleged that he was beaten up with sticks and bricks, besides claiming his car was vandalised during the scuffle. The third case was filed by a student from Phase 8, Mohali, who alleged that his brother was targeted by members of an opposing party.

On the basis of the statements, the police registered three cross-FIRs under relevant provisions of the BNS. Officials confirmed that inquiries have begun to piece together the sequence of events and determine responsibility for the violence.
