Three held for robbery at house in Mohali’s Shekhan Majra
The police arrested three members of a gang allegedly involved in a robbery in Shekhan Majra village.
Those arrested have been identified as Ludhiana residents Gurinder Singh, 41, Tejinder Singh alias Prince, 39, and Nitesh Kumar, 43. Another suspect, identified as Maninder Singh, is absconding in the case.
Two motorcycles used in the crime, a sickle, a dummy pistol, gold ring and artificial gold jewelry has been recovered from the accused.
The incident took place in the wee hours on September 7. Complainant Kulwant Singh told the police that he heard the screams of his son Lakhwinder Singh and his wife around 1.15 am.
As he headed towards his son’s room a man wielding a pistol and sharp weapons stopped him. The accused threatened him against raising an alarm. The suspects attacked his son, Lakhwinder Singh, with a sickle, and suffered severe injuries on the head and arms.
The suspects looted the gold ornaments and cash kept in the house.
Laskwinder has been admitted to a Phase-4 hospital and has been undergoing treatment for the last week.
Crime Investigation Agency (CIA) incharge Harminder Singh and his team launched a probe into the incident. With the help of technical and human resources, four accused were identified and three of them were arrested. The police also managed to recover the looted goods.
A case was registered against unknown accused under sections 115(2), 305, 307, 331(4), 351(2), 3(5) Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita.
