The police’s Crime Branch 26 team apprehended three accused in connection with a Rs 3-lakh theft at a shop in Chandimandir area.
The complainant Krishna Kumar, a resident of Pinjore and the owner of a general store in the Chandimandir area of Panchkula, had on February 25 told the police that Rs 3 lakh and other items had been stolen from his shop.
Following his complaint, a case was registered at the Chandimandir police station, and the crime scene investigation team was called to the spot.
To identify the culprits, the police analysed the footage recovered from CCTV cameras installed in the area and acted on confidential information, which led to the arrest of three accused.
They have since been identified as Lovely Kumar, son of Vishnu Prasad, resident of Nawanshahr, Punjab; Jaswinder Singh alias Jassi, son of Surendra Singh, resident of Karanpur village, Panchkula; and Mahinder Singh, resident of Chandimandir area.
During the investigation, it was revealed that Lovely Kumar and Jaswinder Singh had committed the theft, and they will be charged under Sections 305, 331(4), 61(2), and 317(2) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS).
Meanwhile, Mahinder Singh provided shelter to the accused, and has therefore been booked under Section 253 of the BNS.
The three accused were presented before the court, which has sent Lovely Kumar to three-day police remand. Meanwhile, the other two have been placed in judicial custody.
