Three persons were injured, including a woman who jumped off the first floor of her house, after a fire spread from cooking gas cylinder in a Mohali village today afternoon.
The victims were rushed to Phase-6 Civil Hospital where they are being treated for burn injuries and others.
Eyewitnesses said the cylinder caught fire from the defective supply pipe. The blaze soon spread across the house and the panicked woman jumped off the first floor into the verandah to save herself. Later, neighbours entered the house and threw the burning cylinder off into an open area.
Fire officer Rajinder Pal Singh said, “A distress call was received in the afternoon after which fire tender was rushed to the spot. Locals said there were seven persons inside the house when fire spread.”
Due to congested roads in the village, the fire tender had difficulty reaching the spot. Internet wires in the area also posed difficulty in reaching the spot.
