Three more cases of Covid were reported from Panchkula today. All of them are contacts of infected persons. However, only one of these cases has been added to the district tally as others are outsiders.

A 40-year-old woman is among the new patients. She is the wife of a 46-year-old man from Sector 12-A, who had tested positive for the virus earlier this week. He had contracted the infection from a patient in Dhakoli.

Civil Surgeon Jasjeet Kaur said the other two patients were the parents of a youth from the Industrial Area, Phase 2, who was found positive for Covid on Friday.

She said, “We did not add any of the six cases reported from the district yesterday as all of them were outsiders. Of the three cases reported today, one from Sector 12-A has been added to the Panchkula Covid tally. Hence, the district tally remains 48 today.”

A health official from the Civil Hospital had yesterday told The Tribune that of the six cases reported on Friday, one was being added to the Panchkula Covid tally.

The new patients have been shifted to the isolation ward at the Civil Hospital for treatment.

More containment zones

As per the orders of District Magistrate Mukesh Kumar Ahuja, house number 1386 to 1392, 1432 to 1436 and 1440 in Sector 21 have been designated as containment zones. Plot number 88 in the Industrial Area, Phase 2, has also become a containment zone. — TNS
