The Operations Cell of the UT police arrested three persons with narcotics.

Acting on secret information, a police team intercepted two scooter-borne men near the T-Point on Gawala Colony Road in Maloya on September 17.

The duo, identified as Rajat (28) and Kulwant (30), both residents of Mundi Kharar in Mohali, were found in possession of 9 kg and 570 gm of ganja. The police arrested them and impounded the scooter. A case under the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act was registered at the Maloya police station.

In another case, Inspector Jaspal Singh’s team apprehended Gurpreet Singh, alias Gopi, a resident of Gulahar village, Patiala, near the BSNL turn at Manimajra on September 13.

The police recovered 90.69 gm of heroin from his possession. Investigations revealed that the accused sourced the drug from Amritsar for distribution in Chandigarh.

A case under the NDPS Act was registered at the Manimajra police station.

The police said Gurpreet had a criminal past and was earlier involved in excise cases and a rape case in Punjab.
