Chandigarh, July 16
The police have arrested three members of interstate vehicle lifters gang and recovered seven vehicles from them on July 6. The suspects have been identified as Sonepat residents Akshay, 28, Jaipal, 23, and Rahul, 27.
The vehicle used in crime with fake number plate was taken into possession and nine days police remand of the accused was also obtained.
During police remand, a white colour Brezza car stolen from Sector 27, was recovered from Lalganj, Bihar. Apart from this, on the instance of accused Rahul, two Maruti Brezza cars and one Ciaz car were recovered from the parking of Railway Station, Muzaffarpur, Bihar. On basis of information provided by accused Jaipal, two Maruti Brezza cars and one Maruti Celerio car were recovered from Muzaffarpur. All these vehicle were taken into the police possession under Section 102, CrPC.
Earlier, accused Akshay was arrested in more than 16 cases of vehicle thefts in different states. Akshay is the alleged mastermind of the gang. He used the coded chip for stealing SUV vehicles.
The accused were produced again in the court and their police remand was obtained in another case for the recovery of more vehicles.
