Top seed Karnataka’s Rujula Ramu defeated Haryana’s Garima Kundu 21-12 21-10 to march into the girls’ U-19 final of the Yonex-Sunrise All India Junior Ranking Badminton Tournament, which is being played at Tau Devi Lal Stadium in Panchkula. In the second semifinal, Navya Kanderi of Andhra Pradesh faced a tough resistance from Anushka Juyal of Uttarakhand before logging a 21-10 15-21 21-17 victory, to set up the title clash with Rujula.

In the boys’ U-19 semis, third seed Ansh Negi of Uttarakhand defeated fifth seed Aditya Tripathi of Maharashtra 21-15 21-17. Eleventh seed Mizoram’s Lalthazuala H stunned eighth seed Suryaksh Rawat of Uttarakhand 21-14 23-21 in the second semifinal. Both the players played a neck-and-neck second game, but Lalthazuala had the last laugh.

In the boys’ U-19 doubles semis, the team of Lalramsanga C and Bjorn Jaison recorded a comeback 19-21 21-19 21-19 win over Divyansh Rawat and Yogansh Singh, while the team of Vishnu Kedhar Kode and Mithileish P Krishnan became the second finalist by defeating Charan Ram Thippana and Hari Krishna Veeram Reddy 21-17 21-13. The team of Vennala K and Reshika U defeated Deepak Raj Aditi and Ponnamma BV Vriddhi 21-13 21-10 to march into the girls’ U-19 doubles final. The pair will be up against Taarini SURI and Shravani Walekar, who defeated Tanoo Chandra and Lalrempuii 21-13 21-15.

In the mixed doubles U-19 semis, Bornil Akash Changmai and Zenith Abbigail ousted Vansh Dev and Ishita Negi 21-11 25-23, while Lalramsanga C and Pragati Parida defeated Divyansh Rawat and Dianka Waldia 23-21 21-18.

Earlier, in the quarterfinals, Gnana Dattu TT cleared the boys’ U-19 round by defeating Prabhas Kumar Kushwaha 21-14 22-20, and Ansh Negi defeated Sugi Sai Bala Singha G 22-20 17-21 21-13. Laksh Chengappa MA defeated Jagsher Singh Khangurra 21-18 21-15, Suryaksh Rawat outplayed Hardik Divyansh 21-18 21-9, Sarvesh Mahesh Yadav defeated Lakshmivyshak Madeti 21-14 21-7, Lalthazuala H defeated Dev Ruparelia 21-23 21-19 21-10 and Pranauv Ram N outplayed Abhinav Garg 21-15 21-16. Rujula cleared the Round of 16 by defeating Saanvi Aneja 21-9 21-11. Taranjeet Kaur defeated Durga Isha Kandrapu 22-20 21-15, Baruni Parshwal outplayed Shantipriya Hazarika 15-21 21-13 21-17, Lakshya defeated Tanoo Chandra 21-19 22-24 21-17, Vennala K defeated Akshita Manral 22-20 21-17, Navya Kanderi outplayed Ishita Negi 21-16 12-21 21-11, Anushka Juyal outplayed Tanvi Reddy Andluri 21-19 22-20 and Garima Kundu recorded a 21-11 21-12 win over Hithaishree L Rajaiah.
