Top seed Swaraaj, Ranjhana win national series tennis titles in Chandigarh

Top seed Maharashtra’s Swaraaj Shailendra Dhamdhere overpowered the local challenger to win the boys’ U-18 title on the concluding day of the CLTA-AITA National Series Tennis Tournament, at the Sector 10 Complex.

Dhamdhere won the opening set 6-4, but Saroha bounced back in the next with a 3-6 verdict. In the final set, Dhamdhere completely dominated and returned with a stunning 6-0 win to bag the title.

Meanwhile, Punjab’s Ranjhana Sangram won the girls’ U-18 title, as third seed Maharashtra’s Nainika Naren Bendram pulled off from the match. Ranjhana was leading the first set 4-1 before Nainika decided to concede the match.

Dr Reet Mahinder Singh, member of Executive Committee; Megh Raj, chief operating officer; and Y Romen Singh, director, coaching & development, CLTA; distributed the prizes to the winners and runners-up.
