A joint delegation from the Chandigarh Traders Association (Sector 17) and Property Federation of Chandigarh today submitted a memorandum to Punjab Governor and UT Administrator Gulab Chand Kataria over the Administration’s plan to increase collector rates for various property categories.

During the meeting, federation president Kamaljit Singh Panchhi emphasised that the move could significantly drive up property prices in Chandigarh, potentially leading to a decline in property transactions within the city. He urged the Administrator to direct the Chandigarh Administration to reconsider any further increase in collector rates, highlighting that such a step would be in the public interest.

The Administrator assured the delegation that he would convene a meeting with Administration officials and the delegation members in April.
