Traders oppose extension in curfew in Chandigarh

Chandigarh, May 10

Members of the Chandigarh Beopar Mandal (CBM) have expressed anguish over the extension of partial lockdown for another week without announcing any economical relief package for traders.

Charanjiv Singh, president of the CBM, said with the extended lockdown, it would be difficult for small and medium traders to survive, especially those who have rented shops. Some immediate relief package should be allowed for traders.

Diwakar Sahoonja, chief spokesperson, said the Mandal would support all anti-Covid measures.

Anil Vohra, patron of the Chandigarh Beopar Mandal, said they opposed the decision of the Administration for not allowing the odd-even system for non-essential shops on the Punjab pattern. It would have given a chance to all traders to work and survive in this difficult time. — TNS
