A delegation of the Chandigarh Beopar Mandal (CBM) called on MP Manish Tewari and raised long-pending issues of traders in the city.
The CBM delegation led by president of the body Sanjiv Chadha, highlighted the issues of building bylaws, pending VAT assessment cases and upgradation of local markets.
The delegation appreciated the MP for having been vocal in Parliament about some chronic issues of Chandigarh.
CBM vice-chairman Diwakar Sahoonja handed over a memorandum on various issues to the MP, flagging the need to take measures to boost commerce and tourism in the city. Charanjiv Singh, chairman of the body, sought a trader welfare board while businessmen Bupender Narad and Mandeep took up the issue of harassment by the Fire Department over NOC for fire safety norms.
The CBM chief asked Tewari to allocate MPLAD fund to upgrade and beautify three sector markets besides providing CCTV network. The MP asked him to present estimates for the CCTV network in the Sector 17 market to begin with.
