'Traffic circles' come up in Chandigarh

The UT police move aims at preventing traffic snarls.

Chandigarh, December 17

To prevent congestion and accidents due to sharp cuts and merging roads, ‘traffic circles’ are being set up at minor junctions by the Chandigarh Traffic Police.

To start with, traffic circles have been set up in the Industrial Area and Sector 17. The police said more such circles would be set up soon.

Their main purpose would be to ease commuting between sectors. These circles would be helpful in facilitating smooth flow of traffic and would be a temporary measure till small permanent rotaries are constructed. — TNS
