As Chandigarh is hosting a ceremonial farewell to the Indian Air Force’s MiG-21 fighter jet on September 26 at the Air Force Station, the Traffic Police has issued a traffic advisory for the general public.
Traffic will be regulated between 1:30 pm and 3 pm on key stretches. Restrictions will be in place from 3BRD to Kali Bari light point. On Purv Marg, traffic curbs will be effected from the Kali Bari light point to the Transport Area junction, and on Madhya Marg from the Transport Area light point to the Police Station East Chowk (Sector 7/26/19/27). Similarly, traffic movement will be restricted on Sukhna Path from the East Chowk police station towards the Golf course turn up to Punjab Raj Bhawan.
Motorists have been advised to use alternative routes during the restricted hours to avoid inconvenience. The police have appealed for public cooperation, acknowledging that some inconvenience may be caused due to the restrictions but emphasising that these arrangements are necessary for a smooth traffic management during the special programme. The police have urged the residents to keep themselves updated with real-time information through its official social media handles: X (@trafficchd), Instagram (@trafficchd) and Facebook (@ChandigarhTrafficPolice).
The advisory was issued in the interest of public safety and orderly traffic flow in the city, said police officials.
