The Ropar police, in an advisory to commuters, have stated that those travelling from Nangal to Chandigarh should take the Nalagarh-Baddi road instead to reach the UT. Most of the commuters coming from Mandi, Kullu, Una, Hamirpur and Kangra district of Himachal use the Nangal-Chandigarh road. These commuters have been asked to take the Nalagarh-Baddi road to reach Chandigarh.
The commuters coming from Shaheed Bhagat Singh Nagar district (formally known as Nawanshahr) have been advised to reach Chandigarh through the Chamkaur Sahib road.
As per the advisory of the Ropar police, the construction of the flyover on the Bhakra Main Line canal would continue for the next three months. During this period, commuters have been advised to take alternative roads to cross Ropar town on the Ropar-Chandigarh road.
With the summer vacation beginning in the next few days, a huge rush of tourists is expected in Manali and Dharamsala. Most of the tourists going to these hill stations have to cross through Ropar and may have to face traffic jams as long as 6 km from Ropar town on the Ropar-Chandigarh road so the police have advised them to take alternative roads.
