Chandigarh, July 8

A traffic cop was allegedly dragged for around 500 metres on the bonnet of a car after he asked the driver of the offending vehicle to show documents over traffic violations.

According to the police, the complainant, Constable Pardeep, who was on duty near the Sector 46/47/48/49 light point on July 7, reported that he saw a Swift car coming from the Colony No. 5 side that stopped at the light point.

The constable said the driver was talking on the phone and both the driver and co-passenger were not wearing seat belts. He approached the offending vehicle and asked the driver to show the documents. The constable alleged that instead of showing the documents, the driver tried to run him over and he fell on the bonnet of the car.
