Travelling an ordeal on Zirakpur-Kalka road

Residents of Zirakpur, Baltana, Dhakoli and Panchkula are a facing long traffic jams due to the tardy pace of construction of drainage lines alongside the service lanes on the Zirakpur-Kalka highway.
Commuters were struck in around 2 km-long snarl-up from the Patiala Chowk to the K-Area light point today. It has been more than six months that the construction of sewer lines on both sides of the road has been dragging on, causing inconvenience to commuters using the stretch.
Work drags on, officials lax

Officials of the MC, the NHAI and the district administration are just not bothered, said Ashish Bhalla, a Baltana resident, adding that it took commuters half an hour daily to cover the stretch.
Baltana hoteliers said they were incurring losses as no one wanted to get stuck in the road that witnesses huge traffic jams.
Traffic police officials said they were trying to regulate the movement of vehicles, but commuters would continue to face the problem till the construction work was completed.
