According to the India Meteorological Department’s Chandigarh centre, the city’s maximum temperature settled at 31.4°C, about 1.1°C below normal, while the minimum dropped to 16.6°C, showing a contrast of nearly 15 degrees.
Relative humidity ranged between 45 per cent and 84 per cent, indicating dry conditions despite slight morning moisture. Mohali recorded a maximum of around 30.1°C, about 2.5°C below normal, and Panchkula saw a maximum of 28.9°C, down by 2°C, both without any rainfall.
Meteorologists attributed the cooling trend to clear skies and calm winds at night, which allow rapid heat loss from the surface. The weather remained dry across Punjab and Haryana, with average maximum temperatures falling by about 1-2°C over the last 24 hours.
The five-day forecast for Tricity indicates mainly clear skies till Wednesday, followed by partly cloudy conditions towards the weekend. Day temperatures are expected to hover around 31-32°C, while night temperatures will remain between 17-18°C, maintaining a steady diurnal variation typical of late October.
Residents can expect crisp mornings and pleasant evenings ahead, with no rain in sight.
