Truck driver held with 10 kg poppy husk

The Anti Narcotics Cell arrested a truck driver for allegedly possessing 10.1 kg of poppy husk. The accused, who has been identified as Dharmendra Singh, a 40-year-old resident of Kauna village, was apprehended on based on a tip-off.

According to the police spokesperson, Singh, who also sold poppy husk, was caught by the Anti Narcotics Cell team, led by PSI Praveen, on the road outside his village. A search revealed the drugs hidden in a plastic bag.

The accused failed to provide any documentation and was booked under Section 15 of the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances Act at the Pinjore police station.

He has been remanded to a three-day police custody.

Notably, Commissioner of Police Rakesh Kumar Arya has issued strict directives to target drug smugglers. The “Drug and Violence-Free Mera Gaon, Meri Shaan Abhiyan” initiative aims to eliminate drugs from the region.
