Two acquitted in Chandigarh robbery case
A local court has acquitted two persons in a robbery case.
Amit Gupta and Satwinder Singh were arrested in the case registered for the offences punishable under Sections 392, 397, 506 and 411, read with Section 34, of the Indian Penal Code at the Mani Majra police station on December 31, 2022, following a complaint by Sammi Kumar Shrivastava.
The complainant had stated that the accused robbed him of his car at gunpoint in the parking area of the NAC, Mani Majra.
Gurbir Singh Sandhu, the counsel for Satwinder Singh, argued that the complainant had failed to identify the accused persons.
After hearing of the arguments, the court acquitted the duo. The court observed that the prosecution had failed to bring home the guilt of the accused beyond shadow of reasonable doubt. — TNS
