Two persons, including a sanitation worker of the Municipal Corporation (MC), have been arrested by the UT police for robbing am auto driver at knifepoint.

Jeetu Shakya, a resident of Phase-XI, Mohali, had reported that he was returning home on Saturday night when three youths signalled him to stop on the Sector 32/33 road. The requested him to drop them in Sector 47. Upon reaching the drop point, one of the suspects pulled out a knife and threatened him. The other two suspects robbed him of his mobile phone and purse containing cash and documents.

The police registered a case at the Sector 31 police station. During the investigation, two accused, identified as Sahil (24) and Naveen, alias Navve (26), both residents of Sector 20, were arrested. Naveen is a sanitation worker with the Chandigarh MC.

The police said Shakya’s phone and purse were recovered from the accused.
