Victims Amarchand Gupta and Baldev Raj Gupta were attacked by a pack of stray dogs while they were out on an evening walk. Passersby rushed to shoo away the dogs and took the victims to the Dera Bassi subdivisional hospital.

Residents said the number of stray dogs has increased alarmingly in residential areas and it has become difficult to venture out in morning and evenings. “Elderly, women and children are a vulnerable lot. The Municipal Council must take immediate remedial measures to check their number,” they said.
