A local court has sentenced two persons Ajay and Sohaib Ansari to five years of rigorous imprisonment after convicting them in an attempt-to-murder case registered four years ago.

The police had registered the case against the accused on May 17, 2020, on the complaint of a person named Wasim Ahmed. He said on the date of the incident he was stopped by Sohaib and another person in Sector 29-B, Chandigarh, and they started beating him over the issue of some girl. He raised the alarm and after seeing the people they ran away.

Thereafter, he called his brother Asif to drop him at his home. When they reached near his house, Sohaib along with Ajay reached there and attacked Asif. Ajay stabbed Asif on his neck and stomach.

During the course of investigation the accused were arrested and the weapon used in the crime were recovered. After completion of the investigation the charge-sheet against the accused was filed in the court. As per the medical reports, Asif suffered five injuries declared dangerous to life.

After hearing the arguments the court passed the sentenced and also imposed a fine of Rs 5,000 on each convict.
