Two held after brief encounter in Peermuchhala

A team from the Jalandhar Crime Investigation Agency (CIA) and the Zirakpur police today arrested two youths allegedly involved in a murder case in the Metro Town Society of Peermuchhala evening after a hot chase and exchange of fire.

The accused have been identified as Akashdeep Singh and Gaurav Kapila involved in a murder in Jalandhar on May 10.

The police said the duo sustained injuries and have been hospitalised.

Sharing further details, Mohali SP(D) Saurav Jindal said the police have also recovered weapons and other evidence from the scene of the incident. The suspects have criminal history.

Acting on a tip-off, the Jalandhar CIA and Zirakpur police launched a joint operation to apprehend the suspects. Upon reaching the Metro Town Society, the suspects opened fire on the police.

In the exchange of fire, both suspects sustained injuries and were immediately taken into custody and sent to hospital.
