Two held for Rs 10L UK work visa fraud in Panchkula
Both accused hail from Kaithal; probe underway to identify accomplices
The police’s Anti-Immigration Fraud Unit has arrested two men accused of duping people on the pretext of arranging work visas for the United Kingdom (UK).
According to Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCP) Srishti Gupta, a resident of Panchkula filed a complaint alleging that he was cheated of Rs 10 lakh after being promised a UK work visa. Following this, an FIR was registered at Raipur Rani Police Station on August 20 under relevant Sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita along with Section 24 of the Immigration Act.
The investigation was entrusted to Unit In-charge Yogvindra Singh and Investigating Officer Gurbachan Singh. The team arrested Satpal Singh, son of Hari Singh, and Krishan Kumar, son of Biru Ram – both residents of Kaithal – on September 24.
The two were produced before the court today, which granted three days’ police remand.
During remand, the police will interrogate the accused to trace the defrauded sum and identify others connected to the racket.
The DCP cautioned citizens not to fall prey to fraudulent agents or organisations offering overseas employment or visas. She advised people to deal only with licensed and authorised agencies, stressing that fraudsters would face strict action. “Our aim is to protect citizens and safeguard their hard-earned money,” she further added.
