In a proud moment for Chandigarh, two local hockey players – Dhapa Devi and Palak – have been selected for the national junior women’s training camp at National Centre of Excellence (NCOE), Bengaluru. The camp will be held from January 17 to January 29.

In a letter to Hockey Chandigarh, Hockey India executive director RK Srivastava said, “A selection trial will also be organised on the last day to prune the strength of players and those, who are not selected, will be released from the camp.”

“Selected players will continue their training,” he added. Both players have been playing for the UT under the banner of Chandigarh Hockey Academy. “I am confident that they will make it to the final list of players,” said Alpinder Singh, hockey coach, UT Sports Department. — TNS
