The District Town and Country Planning Department has launched an anti-encroachment drive against illegal constructions in the city. As part of the operation, two illegal colonies at Bhoj Matour and Bansghati villages in Panchkula district were demolished with JCB machines. The action was taken in the presence of District Town Planner (DTP) Sanjay Narg, Assistant Town Planner Ashok Kumar, Inspector Mohit Sharma and a large police force.

Providing details of the operation, the DTP said prior to demolition, notices were issued to violators. However, as illegal constructions were not removed voluntarily, the department was compelled to take strict action against violations.

Officials also warned that any construction or development of colony without prior approval from the Town and Country Planning Department, Haryana, would face strict legal action. They said, “Residents are strongly advised not to undertake any construction without obtaining the necessary change of land use (CLU) or licence approval from the department concerned.”
