The police arrested two Kajheri youths for murdering a 22-year-old youth with a sharp weapon on October 15. They allegedly put the body in a sack and dumped it in a well in the forest area of Kajheri.
The victim, Anil Kumar Chauhan, a native of Mansa, was reported missing from his rented accommodation at Kumbhra by his family on October 15 and his phone was not reachable.
Those arrested have been identified as Kajheri residents Chhote Lal, alias Neeraj, and Badal. Their accomplice Sahil Kabadia is absconding. The weapon used in the murder and the motorcycle of the deceased were yet to be recovered.
The suspects were produced in court and were sent to three-day police custody.
A case of murder was registered under Sections 127 (4), 3 (5), 140 (3) and 103 (1) of the BNS at the Phase 8 police station.
The reason for the murder was a grudge over a girl, also from Kajheri. Anil Kumar had beaten up the girl a month ago. Her distant brothers, who were also known to Anil, had since nursed a grudge against him.
While they were consuming liquor, an argument broke out among them. After the arguments over drinks, they took him to the forest area and allegedly killed him. The decomposed body in a sack was recovered from a well on Monday.
