Cyber Crime Cell, in a joint operation with the Chennai police, has arrested two persons in a case of digital arrest fraud registered in Chennai. Pardeep Singh (24) of Ganganagar in Rajasthan and Yasdeep Singh (24), a resident of Sector 66, Mohali, have been arrested.

A resident of Chennai was cheated out of Rs 1 crore in a digital arrest fraud and a case under Sections 318 (4), 319 (2), 336 (3), 340 (2) of the BNS, and 66 D of the IT Act was registered. The Tamil Nadu police had informed their UT counterparts that the whole fraudulent transactions were made in an account at the UCO Bank here.

The accused were involved in opening and arranging multiple mule bank accounts, which are provided to criminals on a commission basis for facilitating transfer of the victims’ money.
